Hands-on learning in action! Alcoma School’s Kindergarten to Grade 3 students had the opportunity to visit a local Hutterite colony and learn more about agricultural life, community, and daily routines.

From seeing the animals to touring the kitchen and learning about the colony’s way of life, this was a meaningful experience that brought classroom learning to life.

Thank you to the colony for welcoming our Alcoma students and sharing your time, knowledge, and community with them!

Grasslands Public Schools trustees had a great few days of learning, connection, and conversation at the Alberta School Boards Association Spring General Meeting.

The three-day event included business meetings, professional development, and opportunities to connect with education leaders from across Alberta.

Trustees also had the opportunity to attend a Fireside Chat with former Prime Minister Stephen Harper, followed by a Meet & Greet.

Thank you to ASBA for hosting another valuable event in support of public education across the province.

Back in May, Gem students learned all about incubating chicken eggs, carefully picked and numbered their own eggs, and even started choosing names for their future chicks.

Now, on day 20, the countdown is officially on! And a few eggs already have pips!

What started as a hands-on classroom learning experience may soon become a room full of tiny new arrivals.

We can’t wait to see who hatches first! 🐣🐣

We are incredibly proud to celebrate three BCHS students who represented Grasslands and BCHS at Nationals and earned a place on the podium!🥉

BCHS had students compete in two events, and both events received bronze medals:

Joseph Neufeld earned Bronze in 3D Game Art, a post-secondary event.

Kade Hamre and Marek Fournier earned Bronze in Mobile Robotics.

This year’s competition was especially challenging, making these accomplishments even more impressive.

Congratulations to Joseph, Kade, and Marek on this incredible achievement.

Your hard work, skill, and dedication have made BCHS and all of Grasslands so proud!

Bassano School’s Grade 8 students recently had the chance to explore the skilled trades at the Southern Alberta Collegiate Institute at Lethbridge Polytechnic.

Students started the day with a hands-on look at the electrical trades, learning more about the training, skills, and day-to-day work involved in the field. They also toured other trades programs, including construction, welding, culinary, and more.

Experiences like this help students see what is possible beyond high school and better understand the many different pathways available to them.

A big thank you to Ms. Bertschy, Ms. Racz, the School of Apprenticeship and Continuing Education, and Cam Bernhard, Grasslands Public Schools’ Career Pathways Teacher, for helping create this meaningful opportunity for students.
