Grasslands Board of Trustees Approves 2026-2027 Budget.

The Grasslands School Division Board of Trustees approved the 2026-2027 Budget Report on Monday, June 8, 2026. The operating budget is based on current information provided by Alberta Education and direction from the Minister of Education.

The budget supports the division’s continued focus on student success, classroom stability, and the people and programs that serve students across Grasslands.

“The approval of the 2026-2027 budget reflects our Board’s unwavering commitment to student success and classroom stability,” said Pat Connor, Board Chair. “We are encouraged by the overall increase in provincial funding, which allows us to protect the heart of our division: our people and our programs.”

The budget includes increased provincial funding, along with targeted investments to support class size reductions and the implementation of Classroom Complexity Teams. Grasslands is also projecting a 1% increase in enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year.

While this investment provides important support for classrooms, the division continues to face financial pressure in operations and maintenance due to rising costs and infrastructure needs. Grasslands will continue to manage these pressures carefully while advocating for sustainable funding to support safe and efficient learning environments.

The approved budget includes a projected deficit of $406,836, which will be covered through reserves while keeping the division within provincial reserve requirements.
