Bassano staff and students were thrilled to welcome families, the community, and the Bassano Beavers Hockey Team to our annual Bronco Night and Meet the Teacher Fall Kickoff. An annual tradition for more years than most can recall, the school opened its doors to showcase our staff, student work, classrooms, and sports teams, represented this year by our Senior Girls Volleyball team, who played their first match of the season against the visiting Rosemary Rockets.
It was a terrific match, and bragging rights stayed firmly with our Senior Girls, who swept all four sets to take it overall. As always, our guests from Rosemary were the picture of fair play and good sportsmanship, and both teams brought positive energy, sharp skills, and real determination to every point. A shout-out to Mr. Hodgson and Mrs. Singular for coaching our Senior Girls. We're also glad to field a junior team coached by Mrs. Armstrong, and our intermediate girls coached by parent and community coach Landon Oostlander.
Our families were treated to a free taco-in-a-bag dinner, with thanks to Mrs. Clarke from our kitchen and Ms. Bertschy and her foods class for their help with prep. And a big thank you to our staff for running the door prize draws, serving dinner, selling Bassano swag, and simply being there to meet our families.
Students worked hard all week to make sure their best work was on display on bulletin boards and library windows. It doesn't just make the building feel lively and welcoming — it shows off the dynamic learning happening in every one of our classrooms.
A heartfelt thank you to the local businesses who so generously support our school. Ken Taylor from Creative Screen Art provided us with great school clothing. For this event, we also had gift certificate donations from the following, with winners listed alongside:
