Back to School Information

Schools Open - Schools in Grasslands will be open beginning August 25th.  

Students' First Day -  Students will start classes on August 31st.  Please check with your children's school for any specific schedules and processes.

School Year Calendar -  The 2026-27 school year calendar can be viewed on the website.

New Students - Students who are new to Grasslands can register via our online registration link.   

School Supply List -  Please check your child's school website for a list of school supplies needed for the 2026-27 year.

City of Brooks Bus Passes - Students eligible to ride the bus can register online or at the Grasslands Board Office beginning August 19th.  Please note, not all students qualify for transportation funding provided by Alberta Education to Grasslands, as it is based on the distance (1.6km for Grades K-6 and 2km for Grades 7-12 ) students live from the school.

Rural Bus Transportation - Students living outside of Brooks do not need to register for a pass as long as they are registered with a Grasslands school.  Questions regarding rural busing can be directed to the Transportation Supervisor, Lynetta Thiessen.

Walking School Bus -  Did you know that Grasslands has Walking School Buses?  Young students who live in the neighbourhoods around Uplands Elementary, Eastbrook Elementary and Griffin Park schools can join a walking school bus which is guided by an adult to help students walk to and from school.  If you are interested in having your child walk to school as part of a Walking School Bus, please sign up at your child's school.

Grasslands App - Grasslands now offers parents easy access to information about your child’s school and the school division through our App. You can download the Grasslands Public Schools app from the App Store and Google Play.
