I am looking forward to learning about another facet of our educational system by serving as a Grasslands Trustee for Subdivision C. I received my Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees from the University of Alberta. Throughout my teaching career I have taught at seven different schools both in Strathcona County and in Grasslands Public Schools - Brooks Composite High School, Rolling Hills School, back to B.C.H.S., then at Alcoma School. I have taught every grade from kindergarten to grade 12 - many different subject areas including special education.
My husband, Don, and I have four wonderful children who were raised on our family operated feedlot near Scandia. Taylor, Brett, Evangeline, and Drew all attended Grassland Public Schools. I have served on Grasslands Local ATA as a school representative and on the Economic Policy Committee, where I continued to serve after retiring in 2013. I also served as the ATA Substitute Teacher Representative. I stepped down from these positions in order to serve as a Grasslands Trustee.
I love painting - all mediums. I take delight in observing wildlife on my nature paths around the farm, and I am committed to lifelong learning through positive spiritual growth. I am looking forward to working on the Grasslands Board of Trustees who are committed to providing a welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning and working environment that respects diversity and fosters a sense of belonging.
