GRASSLANDS REGIONAL DIVISION NO. 6 SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS/CEO
The Grasslands Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Mr. Scott Brandt has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Schools and Chief Executive Officer effective September 1, 2017.
Mr. Brandt’s appointment follows a detailed hiring process that solicited the views of students, parents, staff and community and involved representative groups in the interview process. The recruitment process resulted in applications from a wide range of senior school jurisdiction leaders.
“It was clear from the input that we received that it was a priority that the Board select a leader who has a strong focus on success for all students, is committed to the diversity of programming in a rural setting, who is able to optimize financial considerations for maximum student advantage, and who can clearly articulate and inspire a shared vision throughout Grasslands,” noted Board Chair Vic Budz. “Survey results indicated participants wanted a leader who was positive, approachable and professional, an honest, caring person who is willing to listen to us, our teachers and parents, who believes in us, and “someone we can look up to”. We focused on these key attributes during the selection process.”
“Scott’s proven leadership and experience as parent, teacher, school administrator, assistant superintendent and deputy superintendent in Grasslands has prepared him well for this role. His dedication to the communities of Grasslands and his commitment to success for all students that he has displayed throughout his career will enable him to successfully lead a division that embraces diversity, positive relationships and a strong sense of community.”
Mr. Brandt has nearly 24 years of experience in education as classroom teacher, school administrator and central office leader. He currently serves as deputy superintendent where his responsibilities include: human resources, leadership development, teacher induction/mentorship, technology, community engagement for strategic planning, student and staff wellness, Hutterite education and attendance/discipline matters.
Mr. Brandt holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Lethbridge.
“I am honoured to be selected for this important leadership role. It is a privilege to work with a Board that values inclusive learning for all our students and appreciates the dedication and efforts of all Grasslands staff. I am looking forward to working with and learning from an outstanding team of professionals who continually focus on innovative learning, exemplary instruction, and making a difference in the lives of students.”
