Grasslands Regional Division #6 covers an area of over 2 500 square miles in southeastern Alberta. Brooks, at its centre, is approximately 180 km southeast of Calgary and 110 km northwest of Medicine Hat, on Highway #1. Lethbridge is 160 km southwest of Highways #36 and #3.

Grasslands Regional Division operates thirteen schools and seven Hutterite colony schools. The communities supporting schools are as follows:

  1. Brooks, with a population of more than 14 000, is home to five regular schools and one outreach school.
    1. Bassano, a town 48 km northwest of Brooks on Highway #1, population approximately 1300. Instruction offered in Grades K to 12.
    2. Duchess, a village 15 km north of Brooks on Secondary Road #873, population approximately 980. Instruction offered in Grades K to 12.
    3. Gem, a hamlet 63 km northwest of Brooks, via Highway #36 and Secondary Road #556. Instruction offered in Grades 1 to 6. Students continue their education in Bassano or Rosemary.
    4. Rainier, a hamlet 40 km south of Brooks, just off Highway #36. The school is known as Alcoma School. Instruction offered in Grades K to 9. Students continue their high school education in Brooks.
    5. Rolling Hills, a hamlet 50 km southeast of Brooks, on Secondary Road #875. Instruction offered in Grades K to 9. Students continue their high school education in Brooks.
    6. Rosemary, a village 34 km northeast of Brooks on Secondary Road #550. Population approximately 300. Instruction offered in Grades K to 12.
    7. Tilley, a village 26 km southeast of Brooks, just south of Highway #1, population approximately 430. Instruction offered in Grades K to 9. Students continue their high school education in Brooks.

    There are seven Hutterian Brethren Colonies that have public schools offering education services in Grades 1 to 9.

    1. Bow City, 40 km southwest of Brooks on Secondary Road #539.
    2. Clearview, 27 km north of Bassano, 82 km from Brooks.
    3. Fairville, 14 km northwest of Bassano, just off Highway #1.
    4. Newell, 25 km north of Bassano, 80 km from Brooks.
    5. Springside, 50 km north of Brooks.
    6. Springview, 70 km northwest of Brooks, via Highway #36 and Secondary Roads #556 and 561.
    7. Lathom, 50 km west of Brooks, 30 km southeast of Bassano.
